Peer to peer mental wellness support groups in Northern Nevada Reno for bipolar, depression, and other mental illness.

Our Mission:

In the heart of our mission at Community Connections for Mental Wellness; CCMW, (formerly known as Reno Depression Bipolar Support Alliance; RenoDBSA), lies a profound belief in the transformative power of empathy, understanding, and social connection. Established as a 501(c)(3) charitable entity, CCMW is dedicated to fostering a supportive network that encourages healing and growth through shared experiences and peer-to-peer connections. Our foundation is built on hope, empowerment, and the pivotal role of community in navigating the challenges of mental illness.

β€œWhat is peer support?”

β€œEmpowering mental health through shared experiences.”

Community Connections for Mental Wellness is a peer-to-peer support network in Reno, Nevada. We offer an array of peer-led mental wellness support groups for individuals who experience mental health struggles such as bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, personality disorders and moreβ€”whether formally diagnosed or not.

Each group is led by a trained facilitator who has lived experience with mental health struggles, allowing them to guide discussions with empathy and understanding. Our facilitators ensure that all group members feel safe, heard, and respected by upholding clear group guidelines, and promoting a judgment-free space for open conversation.

We believe in the power of community and peer support as tools for healing, resilience, and growth. Whether you're seeking to manage symptoms, find a sense of belonging, or simply connect with others who understand your experience, our groups provide a supportive and empowering environment for personal well-being.

Our Founders' Journey to Healing

The inception of CCMW is rooted in the personal mental illness recovery stories of our founders. Their paths with bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety are marked by challenges and triumphs that underscore the isolation often felt in the face of mental health struggles and the solace found in communal support. These experiences inspired the creation of a local sanctuary in Northern Nevada Renoβ€”a place where individuals are met with understanding and acceptance, embarking on a journey toward healing together. Our story is shared not as a reminder of past struggles but as a beacon of hope and possibility for the future.
